Ms. Pochron’s photographs combine elements from two equally commodified sources, fashion photography and food photography. Shooting in-camera multiple exposures and printing large-scale analogue type c prints she combines the glossy flare of a fashion magazine to the complex first bite of an unexpected hors d’oeuvre. Her sensuous handling of photography opens the way for a deeply polymorphic interpretation of the imagery. Ms. Pochron’s often wry and sometimes ribald sense of humor encourages us to delve in to these complex self-portraits and in turn experience our own sense of umami.
